Phasing out of the conventional PL lamp, now what?

pl lamp

What has been coming for a long time is now really going to happen: the production of the conventional PL lamp will stop from February 24, 2023. On September 1, 2021, two EU regulations were tightened: the SLR legislation and the RoHS directive from which this measure results. Should you immediately purchase new fixtures? No Fortunately not! Saled has an affordable LED alternative for this.

PL lamps are mainly used in places where the light has to be on for a long time, such as along the road in residential areas, shopping centers and on bicycle paths and footpaths. In addition, you often see the lamps in shops and offices. But what does the phasing out of these lamps mean for you? In short: that these products will no longer be marketed in Europe after the expiry date.

What alternative is available? retrofit!

We have sustainable LED alternatives for the PL lamp: PS-L, PS-C, PS-T and PS-S. We can place these LED lamps one on one in your existing fixtures, we also call this retrofit. More than 180 municipalities (more than half of the Netherlands) have already benefited from this efficient solution, which saves approximately 60% energy. The new LED lamp is a one-to-one replacement that fits in the same lamp base and has the same look and feel as conventional lighting. This lamp can be installed quickly and easily by simply switching off the (E)VSA. An additional advantage is that it no longer requires maintenance during the remaining lifespan. What legislation is behind this?

Through so-called regulations, the European Union enforces the same requirements for every country within the European Union. In the context of sustainability, the following regulations have been tightened up. The Single Lighting Regulation (SLR) is intended to improve the energy efficiency of lighting and thus create a more sustainable climate. The Restriction of Hazardous Substances (RoHS) directive is an EU directive with the aim of restricting the use of certain hazardous substances in electrical and electronic equipment.
