Candy store ‘t Soetendal takes energy-saving measures by switching to LED lighting

energy-saving measures

‘t Soetendal is a well-known name in the beautiful village and former island of Urk. The lighting of the chocolate shop and candy store, which are located at two locations, needed to be replaced. The lamps consumed too much energy. As a result, the stores were obliged to take energy-saving measures.

Owner Cor Bouw came to Saled through the Vakcentrum. One store consumed a total of more than 50,000 kWh of energy. If this is the case, you are obliged to take energy-saving measures. The old, conventional lamps consumed more than 100W each. The two locations of ‘t Soetendal were therefore fitted with new 35W LED spots. This was followed by some adjustments at ‘t Boekendal, the third shop of the Bouw family, a (Christian) bookstore. Cor also wanted LED lighting there, so that the bibles in his shop were nicely lit.

Saving more than half on the energy bill

Thanks to this sustainable step, the three stores will save 66% annually on their energy bill. As a result, the investment in LED will pay for itself within 2.5 years. From now on, ‘t Soetendal and ‘t Boekendal also contribute to a better environment: CO2 and sulfur emissions are reduced. For the stores, this will be more than 20,000 kilograms less CO2 and 15,000 grams less sulfur emissions.

Cor Bouw is very happy that a lot can be saved:

“We would definitely recommend other companies to switch to LED and would like to recommend Saled wholeheartedly. They provide a good price and service. It is an investment for a while, but the costs of our energy bill have now been more than halved. That’s even more than we expected!
